The GM&O's Main Line and Pequot Lines diverge here. The Pequot Line runs west-northwest to Coal City where the GM&O and Santa Fe team up and run joint double track to Plaines just south of Joliet Union Station. This photo was taken shortly after the rails were laid in early November, 2007. The straight rail will eventually punch through the wall to hold the Main Line and the town of Elwood plus a coal mine and then reconnect with the Pequot Line (diverging route) at South Joliet Yard.
